Liverpool was transformed into Gotham City for a death defying stunt being filmed on our beloved landmark

These breathtaking photos perfectly capture the excitement and action of Batman filming which took over the Liver Building this afternoon.

The city’s skyline was transformed into Gotham City by production crews shooting the DC Comics blockbuster.

At around 5pm, a helicopter could be seen circling the Liver Building to film heart stopping scenes, which involved what appeared to be a stuntman looking out over the city from a ledge of the iconic building.

Passers-by snapped videos and pictures of the incredible stunt, with crews back on location at the Pier Head again today, after initial sightings on Wednesday afternoon.

The black helicopter appeared to be focused on a balcony area above the clock face which faces towards The Strand.

What looked like a red back-light could also be seen inside the famous building, with a man in full Batman costume secured by a harness looking out over the city.

As night fell, the area remained closed off as the Liver Building was lit up in red – and the helicopter starting circling again at around 8pm as filming resumed.

The film, which also features Liverpool’s St George’s Hall, is due to be released in June 2021 by Warner Bros.

It is to be a reboot of the franchise, with Twilight actor Robert Pattinson taking over the iconic role from Ben Affleck who donned the famous Batsuit for big budget films Batman vs Superman and The Justice League.

Other big names in the cast include Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and Colin Farrell starring as The Penguin.
