Artwork in the style of infamous graffiti artist Banksy has appeared in Nottingham.

While the piece, which has popped up on a building in Ilkeston Road in Lenton, is currently unverified, it does share very similar styling to the incognito artist.

Most notably, the artwork has appeared in a highly public area, a trademark sign of genuine work.

The piece features a young girl hula-hooping a bicycle wheel around her waist, while a physical bike with a wheel missing lies in front of her on the pavement.

Banksy is an anonymous street artist who has been active since the 1990s, his work is typical satirical and very much political, first rising to fame in Bristol’s underground scene.

While it may share the same stencilled-style, there have been many imitations in the past.

In 2014, a painting on a wall under a footbridge across the canal in Nottingham was thought to be Banksy’s own, but it was not.

Nottinghamshire Live has confirmed the painting is in fact on the wall in Lenton as of October 15, and will be seeking to verify the piece in the day ahead.
