It’s been a rollercoaster ride which led to some spectacular scenes and drew Hollywood A-list royalty to the city – but now the Batman circus has moved on as film crews pack up for their next location.

In a welcome diversion from the region being placed in the highest tier of lockdown restrictions because of an upsurge in coronavirus cases, onlookers were treated to some amazing sights as Liverpool was transformed into Gotham City.

It also provided a gift for those using photo-sharing sites such as Instagram.

Among the scenes were a man in full Batman costume standing at the top of the Liver Building, looking out over the city.

The next day, a black helicopter could be seen ‘circling’ the iconic building, focusing on the balcony area above the clock face which faces towards The Strand.

Once again, a man in full Batman costume secured by a harness looking out over the city.

Star Robert Pattinson was also spotted on the steps of St George’s Hall as filming on the blockbuster continued.

Production on the latest Caped Crusader flick resumed last weekend after a hiatus in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The production company had already started setting up for filming around St. George’s Hall, including the passageway which leads from William Brown Street down into the cells underneath the hall.

The film, titled The Batman, stars Pattinson as the legendary DC Comics hero and is due to be released in June 2021 by Warner Bros.

It is to be a reboot of the franchise, with Pattinson taking over the iconic role from Ben Affleck who donned the famous Batsuit for big budget films Batman vs Superman and The Justice League.
