In the latest twist in the Britney Spears saga, long-time manager Larry Rudolph has reportedly resigned from his role.

The 39-year-old’s now former manager said that he hadn’t spoke to the star in over two years, at which time she told him she wanted to take “an indefinite work hiatus”.

Larry had been the Toxic singer’s manager since the early years of her career in the mid-1990s.

Now, Deadline has shared a letter that they say he has sent to Britney’s co-conservators Jamie Spears and the court-appointed Jodi Montgomery on Monday.

In it, he wrote how he had became aware that the pop star was again voicing her intention to retire from singing officially.

“As her manager, I believe it is in Britney’s best interest for me to resign from her team as my professional services are no longer needed,” he said.

Larry, who also manages Aerosmith’s front singer Steven Tyler, admitted he was “extremely proud” of what he achieved with Britney throughout her career. He also made it clear that he had never been a part of the conservatorship.

He concluded: “I wish Britney all the health and happiness in the world, and I’ll be there for her if she ever needs me again, just as I always have been.”

The news follows last week’s news that Britney’s attempts to remove her dad Jamie from her conservatorship had so far failed.

The responsibility for her finances, and other areas of her life, lie with her dad after her mental health breakdown in 2007 under the legal arrangement.

The Guardian reported that the document denying her request stated: “The conservatee’s request to suspend James P Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company Of California, NA as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice.”

Shortly after the announcement, The Bessemer trust filed a motion to withdraw from the arrangement due to Britney’s objections.

The singer had told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny on June 23: “It is my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back.

“I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive … I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated. I want to petition to end the conservatorship.”

She also claimed that the conservatorship had forced her onto contraception to stop her having any more children.
