Britney Spears’ mum Lynne said that she has ‘mixed feelings’ about the conservatorship during a recent conversation with journalists.

The 66-year-old author, who split from Britney’s dad in 2002, warned the reporters that she might have to put the phone down if her family members walk in when she ‘spoke in whispers’ last month.

In an interview published by The New Yorker, Lynne admitted that she didn’t know what to think about her daughter’s conservatorship, adding it brought “pain, a lot of worry.”

Lynne’s remarks came shortly before Britney testified in front of a judge during which she said that her conservatorship brought her ‘more harm than good.’

According to The New Yorker, Lynne swerved any direct questions about her daughter’s case and also added that she was good at ‘deflecting’.

“I got mixed feelings about everything,” Lynn told the publication. “I don’t know what to think. . . . It’s a lot of pain, a lot of worry.”

In recent days it has emerged that Britney’s request to have her father removed from the conservatorship had been denied, causing an outcry among her fans.

Earlier, she had delivered an empowering 23-minute testimony during which she recalled being banned from getting married and being forced on lithium medication that made her feel ‘drunk’.

She also explained that she had no privacy and didn’t even have a door on her bedroom, adding that her team allegedly didn’t want her to have any more children in the future.

Following Britney’s harrowing and emotional testimony – the first time that she has spoken publicly about her situation – it was claimed that Lynne was ‘worried’ for her daughter’s wellbeing.

A lawyer that was representing the interests of Britney’s mum also spoke to the court and said that her dreams of being free from the conservatorship are supported.

“I first want to say that was very courageous of Ms. Spears,” lawyer Gladstone Jones said during the court proceedings, according to Vulture.

Jones continued: “One thing I want to raise with the court… is when she was there in May 2019 that she didn’t feel like she was heard. I feel we need to make sure today that she was heard.”

“Today is the day while the world watches while we listen to Ms. Spears … that we put in place a plan. That is her mother’s request. That we not leave the court without having a plan.”

Under the current conservatorship arrangements, that were brought in after 2007 following Britney’s breakdown, the singer’s finances and well-being are overseen by her father Jamie Spears and a team of people.

This week a judge ruled that Jamie will remain the I’m a Slave 4 U singer’s conservator and that she will not be freed from the legal order.
