Looking miles away from her usual prim and proper image as alter-ego The Vixen, Jenny Ryan has shared a glamorous snap with fans as she takes advantage of summer’s ‘better natural selfie lighting’.
In the image, the stunning quizzer wore her trademark glasses, hoop earrings, bright coral lipstick and her hair, which appeared to be a lighter shade of red than what we normally see her rock, was loose down to her shoulders.
Originally sharing the snap to her Instagram stories on Sunday, with the caption “Scrubs up okay after basically 18 months indoors”, the 39-year-old clearly liked the selfie as it got upgraded to featuring on her main feed earlier today.
The Chaser captioned the second share of her selfie: “Summer = better natural selfie lighting”
BBC weatherman Owain Wyn Evans commented “Gorge! X” on the recently uploaded snap and one fan suggested the pretty picture could be a new social media headshot, saying: “Jenny you are so stunning inside and out. I’m thinking maybe a new profile picture for Instagram or Twitter?”
The Bolton-born beauty actually wrote some questions for the show’s pilot episode back in 2009 after spending years starring in quiz shows such as University Challenge, Mastermind and The Weakest Link.
The show’s host, Bradley Walsh is the man responsible for The Chaser’s nickname, The Vixen which he coined due to her red hair, freckles and ponytail. Jenny and producers loved it since “vixens are notoriously clever and cunning” and the moniker stuck.
Speaking to Lorraine Kelly at the start of the year, Jenny revealed she hated the first nickname that was tried out.
Speaking to the daytime TV host, she said: “The producers had been trying to work out what my nickname should be, and they wanted something animal-y because I like a lot of animal print.”
“And they suggested ‘The Cougar’, and I said, ‘no, because I’m too young to be a cougar’.”
Since finding fame on the ITV quiz show, Jenny has gone on to appear in a number of reality TV shows.
The brainy redhead has made cameos on Comic Relief, Celebrity MasterChef and, in October 2019, starred in The X Factor : Celebrity.
The Chaser was initially eliminated before the live shows but criticism of this decision from viewers led to her being asked back to join the live shows. She went on to reach the final and finished in third place.
