SyFy released the twenty second clip and though not much of the plot is shown it was definitely terrifying.

It all begins when the vintage doll is put out for sale at a suburban yard sale and is purchased by a teenager named Jake Webber (played by Zackary Arthur).

The woman running the sale notices that someone took the butcher knife before several quick scenes are shown showing the horrified faces of castmembers and Chucky wreaking havoc.

Entertainment Weekly released a first look photo of the newest version of the ‘Good Guy’ doll along with an accompanying interview from franchise creator Don Mancini who has been brought back as showrunner of the series.

He also co-wrote the original film in the movie series, 1988’s Child’s Play, as well as wrote and directed several of the sequels including 2017’s Cult Of Chucky.

After being totally shut out of the 2019’s Child’s Play film, the creator has returned to write the entire first season and direct the pilot episode as well as executive produce.

‘The main character is a 14-year-old gay boy who’s bullied and sort of lost after the recent death of his mother,’ said Mancini.

‘He’s a young artist [making] sculptures with doll parts. He finds Chucky at a yard sale and buys him, but it turns out that he gets much more than he bargained for.’

There will also be a familiar voice to the franchise as Brad Dourif originally played the serial killer Charles Lee Ray, who was killed and reincarnated in the body of a popular doll, and will be returning to voice the titular character.

Dourif was replaced by The Last Jedi’s Mark Hamill for 2019’s remake. Following his success in the Star Wars saga, Hamill largely focused on voice acting.

The series will also have series favorites returning including Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, and Christine Elise.

Mancini said: ‘One of the things that we pride ourselves on, and I think makes our franchise singular, is that we have spun a relatively consistent and coherent narrative over the course of 33 years and seven films and now eight episodes of television.

They are back! Brad Dourif will be returning to play the titular character as franchise favorite Jennifer Tilly will also be returning as they played Chucky and Tiffany Valentine in 1998's Bride Of Chucky, respectively

‘I think that’s one of the things that our fans like about the Chucky franchise. I deliberately ended Cult of Chucky on a series of cliffhangers, major cliffhangers, because I knew a TV series would be the ideal place to accommodate delving into the ramifications. So we begin the series introducing our new story, our new milieu, and then we start to bring the veteran characters into the story, and it all comes together for a big showdown.’

In addition to series lead Arthur other young stars include Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson. Lexa Doig and Devon Sawa, who are new to the franchise, are also set to star.

The project was first announced in January 2020.

Bloody Disgusting first reported in February 2018 that Mancini was developing a Chucky series after previously directing three critically acclaimed entries in the series.

The horror maestro has been open about his displeasure with last year’s Child’s Play remake, which was made without his participation even as he was trying to get the series off the ground.

He previously collaborated with SyFy on the anthology series Channel Zero.

The new series ‘will explore the horror that unfolds in a small idyllic American town after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale and the chaos the ensues when as a series of murders exposes the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the slayings as well as the doll’s untold origins,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.

David Kirschner, Nick Antosca and Harley Peyton will join Mancini as EPs.

‘The character Don and David created has terrified audiences for over 30 years. The longevity and legacy of Chucky speaks to the creative storytelling and the loyal fans the film series has collected over the years,’ said Chris McCumber, president of SyFy.

‘We are excited to once again partner with Nick and UCP on this new Syfy series, and are incredibly proud to bring Chucky to television for the first time with the original creators.’

Chucky was first introduced in 1988’s Mancini-penned Child’s Play.

The low-budget horror film was a hit with critics and audiences and led to six sequels and a remake that have earned nearly $200 million.

The eerie Good Guy doll and Chucky’s recognizable sneer also launched a wave of merchandising, video games and comics.
