Emma Bunton says she has stated to experience symptoms of menopause and laments not having a third child.
The singer, best known to millions as Baby Spice, has candidly opened up about the changes her body has been going through during lockdown.
The 45-year-old Spice Girl is mother to 13-year-old son Beau and 10-year-old son Tate who she shares with 42-year-old boyfriend Jade Jones.
Emma explained that she had considered getting pregnant during lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic before coming to realise she was beginning to experience menopause.
She told the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine: “I started to feel unbalanced and anxious
“At first I put it down to the pandemic. But then the anxiety became more regular, until it was daily.
“I was also lethargic. Something wasn’t right. I looked up the symptoms and saw I had quite a few. So I spoke to someone on Zoom who came to the same conclusion. I was perimenopausal.”
She went on to explain that the changes to her body left her questioning if she will be able to have more children.
She said: “I thought, ‘Is this the end?’
“It’s been a very weird time. I’m a very mumsy person – when I see my friends’ babies, I always become broody. But now I thought, ‘OK, this is it’.”
Emma previously discussed her happiness about being pregnant in the past.
She told Mother and Baby last year: “My partner, Jade, and I have always wanted children, so the thought of being pregnant was always very exciting for us.
“I fell pregnant when I was probably at my fittest, while competing in Strictly Come Dancing [in 2006]. I know being pregnant isn’t for everyone, but I loved it!
“Carrying my children and being spoilt rotten was my idea of heaven. Lots of women can have difficult pregnancies, so I was very grateful to be able to enjoy the time – it really is amazing how you adapt to all the changes your body is going through.”
