Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale has announced Sally Dexter is returning as Faith Dingle.
Faith was last seen in 2019 – exiled by Cain after she confessed to her part in covering up the fact that he had a secret son – but the character will show up again next month.
Viewers will see Moira (Natalie J Robb) bumping into Faith, who is surprisingly dressed as an undertaker and in the middle of trying to steal a hearse.
Faith and Moira later talk in the village, where Faith asks if she thinks there’s a chance Cain might be able to forgive her.
“It’s wonderful to be back in Emmerdale again,” Sally said. “From the first day, I felt like I was getting a big warm family hug from everyone. It’s a really special show!”
Producer Sophie Roper added: “I’m delighted to see the return of much-loved character Faith Dingle to the village. A character bursting with fun, Faith’s certainly set to ruffle a few feathers and will test the Dingles’ loyalties like never before.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Sally back to Emmerdale, an actor exuding vibrant charm.”
Faith’s return had been teased by producers Jane Hudson and Laura Shaw when they spoke to Digital Spy and other media in a recent Zoom call.
“We have got a very much-loved character coming back to the village,” they said at the time. “That’s all I’m going to tell you, but they are fantastic, they light up the screen, and there’s going to be a lot of fun with them.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
