KATE Ferdinand’s step kids tried in the sweetest way to support her as she struggles with being a new mum in lockdown.
The new mum, who gave birth to son Cree just before Christmas, revealed she’d hoped her “screaming baby would drown out the sound of my tears”.
But her husband ex-footballe Rio Ferdinand’s three kids – Lorenz, Tate and Tia – heard and became concerned for Kate.
They did the sweetest thing for her by sliding a note under the door reading, “[sic] pls stop crying I love u”.
“As if I wasn’t emotional enough,” Kate wrote on a lengthy Instagram post where she shared a photo of the sweet note.
“To new mums, mums, step mums … and anyone who is struggling in lockdown, I feel you! Sometimes we just need to sneak in our room and have a little cry … even then, because of lockdown, we may have lots of little ears 👂🏽 listening in.”
Kate added: “A mix of the new baby, lockdown, kids at home and lack of sleep have well and truly got me. I feel like I’m a robot going through the same routine daily, feed baby, wind baby, wait for him to wake and repeat.”
The new mum continued that she knew “I am blessed to live the life I do; a husband, 4 beautiful kids, 2 dogs (1 that’s still protesting because of baby😑!!) “.
“Some moments I’m feeling amazing and full of love, but I’m too often left feeling low, like I can’t escape,” she wrote.
Kate was not sure if her feelings were the “after effects of a emergency c section, or the stress of another lockdown” or “a mix of both”.
The former Towie star also said she felt s”o lucky to have just welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world”.
“But my emotions and anxiety are at an all time high … all my coping mechanisms I’ve learnt over the years to keep my anxiety at bay I can’t utilise. A workout, a long walk, some alone time,” she wrote.
Kate added that she knew this would pass but wanted to open up to her fans as “this is all new to me”.
“I never normally talk openly with how I’m feeling on here in the present, I always open up when I’m feeling better or it leaves me feeling really vulnerable…. but your messages made me feel so much better last time and not alone,” she told her fans.
As a result of that online support she said she felt she had a “duty to show you the real not so perfect me.
Kate finished by writing: “I hope how I’m feeling can give you some comfort that you are also not alone. Lots of love.”
