Phoebe Dynevor puts her Daphne Bridgerton glamour to one side as she transforms into iconic ceramicist Clarice Cliff in stunning image from new film The Colour Room

Phoebe Dynevor looks world’s away from the glamour of Bridgerton in a first-look still released by Sky of her upcoming film.

The actress – who became a household name over Christmas as Daphne Bridgerton on Netflix – transforms into iconic ceramicist Clarice Cliff in the stunning image from her next project, The Colour Room.

A far cry from the silky baroque dresses of Regency Era London, Phoebe wears her newly-darkened mane in a curly cropped style, and cuts a pale pensive figure.

She dons a black coat and a coloured scarf, hung loosely around her neck as she stands in a misty street – a cart in the background, and pheants hanging from a hook.

The Sky Original drama is still filming, shooting scenes on location in Birmingham over the Easter weekend.

Phoebe was spotted in a dowdy baggy cardigan filming with co-stars Matthew Goode and Darci Shaw.

Clarice is a vivacious young factory worker in the industrial British midlands of the 1920s.

Her creativity and ambition drives her to move factory to factory, despite the financial impact on the household she shares with her widowed mother Ann (Kerry Fox) and youngest sister Dot (Darci Shaw).

Bursting at the seams with ideas for colours and shapes, Clarice takes more and more dangerous risks – but she manages to stay one step ahead of the workhouse and impress the eccentric factory owner Colley Shorter (Matthew Goode) on the way with her talent and innovation.

Apprenticed to renowned Art Designer Fred Ridgeway (David Morrissey) and with support from Colley and other women in the factory, Clarice fights her way through to design the unprecedented Art Deco ‘Bizarre’ range.

In the middle of the Great Depression, she ensures the factory’s survival and her future as one of the greatest Art Deco designers and a household name.

The cast were at The Black Country Museum for the filming session over the weekend.

Gushing about the production earlier this month, Phoebe said: ‘I am so excited to be joining the cast of The Colour Room, especially in the role as one of the nations most celebrated artists, Clarice Cliff. It’s truly such an honour to take on such a remarkable character.

‘The script is a beautifully written contemporary take on the 20th century, and I feel proud to be working with such a strong female team, both in front and behind the camera.

‘I look forward to telling Clarice’s story and of course working with Matthew too.’
