Matthew Perry has called off his engagement to literary manager Molly Hurwitz months after proposing.
The short lived engagement has come to an abrupt end after the Friends star admitted “sometimes things just don’t work out”.
The 51-year-old popped the question to his now ex-fiancee, 29, in November last year but now it appears the pair will go their separate ways.
In a statement released to People, the Friends star said: “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them, I wish Molly the best.”
The pair began dating in 2018 before moving their relationship to the next level last year.
At the time, the actor told People: “I decided to get engaged. Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”
The break-up follows reports that Matthew had been active on a dating app.
The actor, who played Chandler Bing in the iconic sitcom Friends, was outed for using the dating app Raya and allegedly had a flirty exchange with a 19-year-old girl in which he asked: “Am I as old as your dad?”
The video was posted to TikTok last month by user @kittynichole – real name Kate Haralson.
She claims the pair matched on the membership-only dating service in May last year and captioned her 16-second video: “When you match w Matthew Perry as a joke on a dating app and he facetimes you and plays 20 questions with you.”
The actor looks in a happy mood during the exchange and asks his potential suitor: “Do you always play with your hair this much?”
The now 20-year-old replied with a giggle: “I guess so.”
LA-based personal assistant Kate claimed to PageSix that she wanted to show people that older men in Hollywood are “taking advantage” of some of the younger women on dating apps.
She said: “A lot of people were saying I’m a bully and mean for posting this, and it made me feel kind of bad, but at the same time, I feel like a lot of guys in Hollywood are talking to all these young girls and it’s something that I think a lot of people should be aware of.”
The interaction is said to have happened when Matthew and Molly were on a break.
Fans of the actor shared their concerns about his wellbeing following the Friends reunion show last week.
Some thought he was slurring his speech was potentially a sign that he had relapsed following a battle with addiction.
However, a source told The Sun that his speech issue was solely down to emergency dental work.
