Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer has revealed she’s given birth to her first child with partner David Oakes.
The pair welcomed their baby girl to the world in January but kept the news a secret from fans, only telling close friends and family.
Natalie, 39, isn’t on any social media platforms but she has now made the announcement on pal Esther Rantzen’s That’s After Life podcast which was released on Wednesday.
The Anne Boleyn actress joked with Esther: “It’s the perfect thing to do during a pandemic – get pregnant, have a baby.
“I feel like I’m probably being a bit of a cliché, she’ll probably be sitting in a bar in 30 years’ time one day going, ‘Yeah, I’m a COVID baby’.”
And she added that it’s been an “absolute joy” being a mother for the last three months – although she said she will never complain about shooting hours ever again “because sleep deprivation is something else”.
She happily admitted that sleep has always been an important part of her life and said that the lack of sleep is the “only downside,” but said that hormones quickly kick in.
She continued: “People say, ‘Your whole perspective on life will change, and your whole set of value system’ and you sort of roll your eyes and go ‘yeah, yeah’ – and then you have one and you go, ‘Oh. Wow!'”.
Natalie and fellow actor David are living together in London after meeting in West End play Venus in Fur in 2019.
And she says that acting may now be tougher with a child. “I’m going to find it very difficult, I think, you don’t want to warp the childhood experience,” she said.
But she confessed that she may move back into theatre to take advantage of the more child-friendly hours on offer – if she can.
“With COVID, who knows when that will happen,” she admitted. “I really feel for our theatres around the country, there’s hard times.”
