Paul Hollywood and his fellow presenters been slammed by furious Great British Bake Off fans after making some ‘insensitive’ jokes on the show.

The presenters came under fire last week after making a gag about having ‘small hands,’ before making another statement about rainbow-coloured bagels.

According to The Sun, both remarks landed GBBO with 70 Ofcom complaints.

Taking place in the midst of bread week, some viewers first became frustrated when the presenters appeared to joke about having small hands.

In the footage, Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas hilariously pulled out a fake hand as they joked about Paul’s ‘Hollywood handshake’.

The GBBO star then enters the scene, and questioned the mischievous presenters on what they had been up to.

“You haven’t been playing with my handshake have you?” Paul asked.

He then added: “Because if you have you’ll get this and this alright?”

Paul then whips out a pair of tiny prosthetic hands, as he joked about what could happen if you mess about with the ‘powerful’ Hollywood Handshake.

Despite being depicted as a lighthearted gag, some fans thought it was insensitive to people with Poland Syndrome, reported The Sun.

According to the publication, some 16 people complained to Ofcom about the joke.

Others also took to social media to fume about the ‘unacceptable’ gag.

“Oi @Channel4 do you need a #disabled expert or D&I consultant in your organisation as I would love to explain to you why the use of small hand as a comedy prop in #GBBO by @PaulHollywood IS NOT ACCEPTABLE,” penned Paralympian, Carly Tait.

The Ofcom complaints then continued to rack up after Paul suggested that rainbow bagels reminded him of the NHS.

During the Technical Challenge, Paul said: “I think the rainbow colours for me, although it originated over in the States, I think it represents the NHS.”

Several viewers immediately took to social media to express their frustration with the statement, arguing that a rainbow flag stands to represent the LGBTQ+ community.

Many also pointed out the blunder on Twitter, with one profile writing: “Making rainbow bagels on #bakeoff and Paul Hollywood reckons they make you think of the NHS. No Hun, those bagels are gay bagel.”

A representative for the GBBO has been contacted for comment.
