Giovanna Fletcher has been named the new camp leader on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

The podcaster will take over from DJ Jordan North in tonight’s episode.

Giovanna has proved to be one of the most popular faces on the new series filmed in Wales, it’s first not to take place in Australia.

The mum-of-three’s promotion comes after recent episodes have seen cracks begin to show between the stars.

Tensions have grown as campmates experience a lack of sleep and food, reports the Mirror.

Revealed on today’s episode of The Daily Drop, I’m A Celeb’s sister show, host Vick Hope announced that Giovanna would be taking the lead.

And today’s guests, Dev Griffin, Charlotte Hawkins and Aaron Crascall, all superfans reckoned it was the best shout for camp.

“She’s a mother, she’s got authority,” remarked Aaron.

“She’s already been quite a leader,” added Charlotte.

And Dev, who is good friends with current leader Jordan, said Giovanna would be better able to diffuse the emerging issues.

Last night’s show saw Victoria Derbyshire announce dancer AJ Pritchard had spent the day scrubbing the mess tins – after Shane Richie had done it the night before.

AJ even slipped in a few jibes about how much cleaner the tins were with him cleaning them.

“So Shane’s done a very bad job?” Beverley Callard bluntly asked, picking up on the remarks.

“Oh my God,” the former Strictly star fumed in the Telegraph, “no wonder our rice has some weird flavour to it.”

And before Shane returned from his trial, AJ added: “If you’re going to do it, do the job properly.”

Fans were divided over the issue, some defending Shane but others insisting he hadn’t made a good enough job of the washing up.

AJ had earlier told the Telegraph that he feels no one else is pulling their weight in the wood chopping stakes.

“I seem to be the only one chopping all the wood because people don’t realise they’re allowed to,” he said.

Victoria and Jordan rallied about him and agreed that they’d start chopping more themselves.

And during the show before, Shane and Vernon Kay had had a private chat after AJ and Jess Plummer’s trial in which they got together six stars.

“I’m not disappointed…” Shane insisted in the Telegraph.

His chat with Vernon sparked a backlash among fans as they questioned why Jess and AJ had even entered the show.

Last night saw Shane win 12 stars.

“I’m glad they ate well!” Dev laughed, referencing the emerging tensions in camp.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs this evening at 9pm on ITV.
