I’m A Celebrity producers have denied accusations that they ‘cheated’ by giving Jordan North a helping hand in Thursday night’s trial.
Poor Jordan was left distraught at the end of Wednesday night’s show when hosts Ant and Dec informed him that viewers had voted for him to do yet another trial after already seeing him suffer in the likes of Viper Vault and Frights of the Round Table.
Jordan was comforted by his co-stars after being dealt the blow with Beverley Callard telling him “this is what’s going to make you a f***ing megastar.”
After getting himself together, Radio 1 DJ Jordan joined Ant and Dec to take on Trapped Door where he was put in an underground tunnel and covered in insects as he attempted to retrieve stars for camp.
The 30-year-old surprised himself and viewers by bossing the challenge and being over the moon at winning 11 stars after running out of time to find the 12th.
However, when he was counting out the stars to the Geordie presenters he found 12.
And cynical viewers smelt a rat. One tweeted: “only got 11 stars not 12, what a scam, watch it back he definitely doesn’t get a 12th star from the toads.”
In agreement another posted: “Anyone else think Jordan was a little unsurprised at that 12th star. Perhaps somebody forgot to put it in the hole and slipped it into his hand when he got out” and a third reacted: “How did the 12th star get into his bag without the cameras even catching it.”
However, giving a statement to The Mirror, I’m A Celebrity producers denied they’d had a hand in Jordan’s success, telling the publication: “Jordan won all 12 stars fair and square, any suggestion to the contrary is untrue.”
While some viewers were sceptical about his achievements, other say the funny side about him not realising he had 12 stars.
One tweeted: “Jordan not realising he had already put the 12th star in the bag is the most iconic thing to happen so far this series” and another joked: “Jordan the wet wipe didn’t realise he put the 12th star in probably thinking about Turf moor too much”
