Jacqui, 57, was revealed to be the last celebrity taking part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing after serving as the Home Secretary under the Labour Government. The politician now makes regular appearances on Good Morning Britain and LBC to debate some of the day’s biggest headlines. Ahead of the launch of the BBC dance show on Saturday night, the contestant spoke on Friday’s edition of the ITV news show and shared her excitement about training. However, fellow guest Iain Dale, 58, seemed to let slip who the amateur dancer had been partnered with.
Viewers will officially find out who this year’s cast has been partnered with this weekend and due to coronavirus restrictions, the launch will be a little different.
For example, the programme has been pre-recorded, so the celebrities already know who they will be training with.
Therefore, the first live show of the series will take place next Saturday instead of there being a two-week hiatus between each instalment.
Teasing who she will be dancing with, Jacqui said on GMB fans would have to wait until the weekend to find out.
As Kate Garraway, 53, asked if the contestant was pleased with who she had been paired with, Iain jumped in to drop a big spoiler.
“Well, I think I know who it is because you have to look at who keeps liking Jacqui’s tweets – that’s the clue,” he said.
“She hasn’t told me, she won’t tell me,” he added before the contestant interjected to say her fellow guest was bluffing.
“I don’t know his name but there is someone who keeps liking her tweets,” Iain continued as he chuckled away.
Whilst her co-star tried to give the game away, the former Home Secretary expressed her joy at being able to take part in the show.
Ahead of the launch show, the bookmakers are already placing their odds on who could lift the Glitterball Trophy in a few months time.
Unfortunately, it seems Jacqui is going to be one of the first contestants eliminated as her chances of victory don’t look too great.
Coral currently has the former Home Secretary at 50/1 to become champion, matching the odds of comedian Bill Bailey, 55.
However, on the other end of the spectrum, EastEnders actress and soap star Maisie Smith, 19, leads the charge to win.
