Kate Middleton and Prince William looked closer than ever during their royal tour of Scotland and it’s left fans wondering if they will have a fourth child.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe said he doesn’t think the Cambridges – parents to sons George, seven, and Louis, three, and daughter Charlotte, six – have ruled out the possibility of becoming a family of six.

He said the duchess is a “natural mother” and is “very doting” with the children she meets during public engagements, include those in Scotland last week.

Earlier this year, there were claims that Kate, who turns 40 in January, and William, 38, were planning to have a fourth child.

Mr Larcombe told OK! magazine: “I don’t think Kate and William have ever ruled out the possibility of baby number four.

“Their children really bring out the best in them and Kate is a natural mother and very doting with children.

“With Kate, despite her focus on her royal duty, her family still come first. I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided on another baby.”

Katie Nicholl, another royal expert, said Kate has “made no secret” that she would like to have a fourth child, while William has been “content” with three.

In February, a source claimed to Us Weekly that the Cambridges, who recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary, were “trying” to conceive their fourth child.

The source added: “Having four children was always part of Kate’s plan.

“She put the idea on hold when [the coronavirus pandemic] hit, but now there is light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine and [Prince George and Princess Charlotte] scheduled to return to school in April.

“She feels ready to start trying again.”

The source claimed it took some time for Kate to “convince” William.

During a visit to Ballymena, Northern Ireland, in February 2019, Kate stopped to speak to a father, Alan Barr, and his five-month-old son, James.

Mr Barr asked: “Baby number four?”

The Duchess of Cambridge replied with a laugh, saying: “I think William would be little worried.”

The Royal Family has welcomed a number of babies and pregnancy announcements this year, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expecting their second child – a daughter – within weeks.

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi recently announced they are expecting their first child.

Zara Tindall gave birth to a boy, Lucas, at the family’s Gloucestershire home in March. Lucas is Zara and Mike Tindall’s third child.

Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child, a boy named August, in February.
