My heart hurts so much right now..”
Mathew and Michaela won fans with their podcast about dating, relationships and social issues.
In December last year, Mathew shared on his love for his job in media after leaving his job as a Medical Scribe.
“Before switching from a life that was going towards medicine to a life in entertainment there were a lot of questions going through my mind. Some questions included was it worth it? Am I sure this is what I really wanted?” he told Shoutout Arizona.
The ambitious personality added that he was worried about not being able to make money as a podcaster but that he knew he had to try or he would have regrets.
Detailing how he jumped into the industry, he shared: “So I did it. I packed up my apartment and left my friends in Arizona to move to LA and start SheRatesDogs the Podcast with my best friend, Michaela Okland. With this being the biggest risk I’ve ever taken, I was understandably a nervous wreck. 5 months later I can honestly say that I am SO happy that I did this.”
Mat also used his platform to share his experiences as a gay man and said that he wanted his social media stardom to help LGBTQ+ people all across the world feel like they’re not alone
He recalled: “Towards the end of my college days at Arizona State University I started to share my experiences as a gay man with different people I was close to. Their reactions made me realize that a lot of these stories were funny to others, which then gave me more confidence to start sharing them with even more people.
“Eventually I started to tweet about them on my personal twitter account and people loved them. I then began to fall into comedy twitter, and started tweeting about different memes, trends and other funny topics that allowed me to show my creative side.
“While this is all fun for me, I realized that I could actually make a difference with this. Growing up and being in the closet, I never knew anyone or heard about anyone who had similar experiences and fears that I had.
“My hopes for my twitter account and SheRatesDogs the Podcast is to share my stories and make LGBTQ+ people all across the world feel like they’re not alone. The most rewarding moments are when members of the LGBTQ+ community reach out to me and tell me what a difference I’ve made in their lives.”
