Laura Whitmore is preparing to become a first-time parent alongside her husband Iain Stirling.

And the Love Island host, 35, has revealed that she has no plans to give up her career as a TV presenter when her little tot arrives.

The blonde star says that it is because of her mum, Carmel, that she is sure that she can juggle working alongside raising a child.

She also told that is it because of her mum’s encouragement that she was able to believe in herself to enter Pick Me MTV that led to her fronting MTV News in MTV Europe in 2008 – which kickstarted her career on TV.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Laura reflected: “All my friends from school are doctors or teachers. The fact that I even thought it was possible to go off and work at MTV came from my mum because her attitude was: ‘If you want to, then why not?'”

Adding how she is not planning on giving up her job, she added: “When people ask if I’m going to give up work this year because of the baby, I’m like, ‘Why? Mum did it in ’80s Ireland!'”

Laura – who is releasing her debut memoir No One Can Change Your Life Except For You will in March – and Love Island voiceover star Iain, 33, tied the knot in secret last year.

At the beginning of 2021 Celebrity Juice star Laura shared that she was a married woman.

She said that they enjoyed the “most magical, perfect ceremony” when she and Iain tied the knot in Dublin.

Laura shared a never-before-seen snap of the happy couple as she confirmed that they had married and had “loved having it to ourselves.”

Iain, meanwhile, mimics his new wife’s pose as he grins with delight at the camera.

Sharing details of the day, Laura wrote: “Entering 2021 like…

“A year ago Iain asked me to marry him and we had the most magical, perfect ceremony. We loved having it to ourselves.

“We had been planning the perfect celebration and I will forever be so thankful that’s what we got. We have never spoken publicly about our engagement or wedding.”

Laura continued: “Back at the time we never felt the need to say anything as it’s all such a personal experience. We also were too busy enjoying it!

“We’ve never shared this picture before now but a lot of people have contacted us and congratulated us the last month with good intentions so here’s to good news!”

Laura finished by wishing her fans a happy New Year and “sending love to you and yours”.

It has been reported that the couple were married at Dublin’s City Hall in front of 25 guests, which were the maximum allowed by Ireland’s coronavirus rules.

They had Laura’s half-brother Adam and Iain’s sister Kirsten as witnesses.

Shortly after news that they had married, Laura shared that she was pregnant in a post on Instagram.

She posted a photo of a baby onesie with Guns N’ Roses Sweet Child O’ Mine emblazoned on it.

She captioned it: “So I’ve always tried to be protective over the personal side of my life.

“A lot of things are just for me and my loved ones and we’ve chosen not to share publicly.

“However I want to now share good news as it’s our news to share – and I’m gonna be honest it’s starting to look like my lock down beer belly is out of control.

“Iain and I are expecting a baby early 2021. It’s been hard to keep such happy news quiet.

“Especially the times when I’ve had to run out of live radio to get sick in a bin or my penchant for a bowl of mashed potato in the morning.”
