Prince Charles could be rocked by fresh revelations from his late wife Diana 25 years after her death, it has been claimed.

A revelatory documentary about Princess Diana is to be re-released and hours of unheard recordings could be aired for the first time, it is claimed.

‘Diana: In Her Own Words’ was first broadcast in 2017 before it surged in popularity again following the airing of ‘The Crown’ in 2020.

The film features the Princess of Wales discussing aspects of her personal life, including her relationship with Prince Charles.

It contained a number of damaging allegations about the Royal Family – which it is feared will be compounded in the re-release.

Filmmaker Tom Jennings told the Daily Mail he has hours of unheard recordings which will be used to make a sequel.

The tapes were made for the 1992 book ‘Diana: Her True Story’, written by Andrew Morton.

The princess died on 31 August, 1997.

“There are seven hours of tapes that Diana made for Morton,” Mr Jennings told the Mail.

“We wound up in our two-hour film only using about one hour of them.

“We’re talking quite a bit about doing something for next year, which is the 25th anniversary of Diana’s passing.”

Mr Jennings said that the new recordings could upset Buckingham Palace – like the 2017 release.

“There are about 140 story points that Diana talks about over the seven hours,” he added.

The documentary became a hit on Netflix in 2020 after the release of the fourth season of ‘The Crown’.

The popular drama detailed aspects of Diana and Charles’ lives, which prompted a backlash against the prince in some quarters.

The pair married in 1981 and had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, before separating in 1992 and divorcing in 1996.

Diana then tragically died a year later after a car crash in a tunnel in Paris, sparking a national outpouring of grief.

Charles married Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in 2005, with their relationship the subject of much scrutiny in The Crown.

Diana’s relationship with her ex-husband and the wider royal family has been a constant source of debate for decades.

But it has been claimed that the Queen became an ally of the princess – despite her being terrified of the monarch in her early days.

Diana had been brought up on the Sandringham Estate and was familiar with royal etiquette throughout her childhood.

Her father served as an equerry to the Queen and both of Diana’s grandmothers as ladies-in-waiting to the Queen Mother.

Diana also grew up playing with Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, closer in age to her than future husband Charles.

But, according to royal authors, Diana’s familiarity with royal protocol didn’t stop her being “quite terrified” of the Queen.

Mr Morton has claimed the relationship between the Queen and her daughter-in-law was polite but formal.

He said that in the early days, “Diana was quite simply terrified of her mother-in-law” and “kept the formal obsequies-dropping a deep curtsy each time they met-but otherwise kept her distance.”

But, over time, he claims Diana reportedly found an “unlikely ally” in the Queen.
