The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have both made a number of TV appearances in the last few months, which has seen the pair chat about life as senior members of the Royal Family. Apart from the Queen’s response to claims made in their first interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Palace has remained tight-lipped and refused to respond to Meghan and Harry’s damning claims – as is tradition. But a royal expert has claimed the Palace is poised to erupt and may start disputing the allegations made by the Sussexes.

Rebecca English, the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor, has warned that Meghan and Harry are “poking the bear” with their repeated comments slamming the Firm.

She also claims the Palace could reach a “tipping point” where they decide to publicly respond to the allegations.

The MailPlus host said: “The Palace have always gone with the never complain, never explain approach.

“Can we really expect that to carry on? Surely there will be a tipping point?”

The expert added: “Buckingham Palace genuinely don’t want to get drawn into a public slanging match with Harry and Meghan.

“That said, they are poking the bear a lot, and people are right to wonder whether there will be a tipping point.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a number of incendiary claims about the Royal Family in their first TV interview with Oprah, which aired at the beginning of March.

The couple accused an unnamed family member of racism, alleged that Meghan received little support when she was feeling suicidal and claimed their son Archie was denied a royal title.

Since then, Harry has opened up on his upbringing and spoke of his “genetic pain and suffering”.

9am update:  Camilla ‘secretly revelled’ in Megxit drama before Meghan and Harry escalated claims

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was said to be “secretly revelling” in the drama of Megxit before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle escalated proceedings with their explosive claims about the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Cornwall has remained tight-lipped about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ever since the Sussexes stepped down from royal life.

But Camilla no doubt supports her husband, Prince Charles, in his feelings of “bewilderment” over his son’s repeated jibes at the Royal Family. The Duke of Sussex recently claimed that his childhood suffered as a result of the scars Charles bore from the way the Queen and Prince Philip brought him up.

When Meghan and Harry first announced their departure from the Royal Family in January 2020, a royal source told Radar Online that Camilla had “secretly revelled in the drama”.

8.20am update:  Royal etiquette laid bare by former butler – ‘Never ignore a child who calls out to them’

Royal tours often involve walkabouts, where members of Britain’s first family go to meet and talk to their adoring fans.

In all aspects of royal interactions with the public, strict etiquette rules apply. Those hoping for the opportunity of a quick chat with their royal heroes should pay heed to advice from a former butler of Prince Charles. Grant Harrold told Business Insider that people should never shout out to a Royal or initiate conversation.

Instead they should wait to be approached and spoken to, if they don’t want to be given the cold shoulder.

However, he admitted that royals always have a soft spot for children.

The ex-butler said: “I have never seen a member of the royal family ignore a child who calls out to them.”
