Former Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has broken her social media silence to share a sweet message with fans.
In the message, Sarah wrote: “Hi everyone! I hope you are keeping safe and as well as possible with everything that’s going on.
“I know I’m not really that present on here which I promise I’ll try to get a bit better at, as honestly it means the world to me when I come on and see all your well wishes.
“Thank you for the love and support, on bad days it helps me so much. So here’s a little update from me… Mum, the dogs and I had a really lovely but quiet Christmas together, which was different to my usual, but seemed a fitting way to end such a strange year.
“And since then, in between treatments and hospital visits I’ve managed to finish my book!
“I can’t believe I’ve actually gone and done it and it’s now at the printers! I’m so excited for it to come out.”
Sarah went on to reveal she’s named the book Hear Me Out after a track she wrote for Girls Aloud, and admitted she enjoyed pouring over her history with the girl group to put the tome together.
However, Sarah said she hoped the book will remind fans of the “the other Sarah Harding” – saying she “got utterly lost” and hoped she’d be remembered.
Sarah went on: “I can’t rewrite history; all I can do is be honest and wear my heart on my sleeve. It’s really the only way I know. I want to show people the real me. Or perhaps remind them.
“Because, somewhere – amongst the nightclubs, the frocks and hairdos, the big chart hits, and the glamour of being a pop star – the other Sarah Harding got utterly lost
“She’s the one who’s been forgotten. And all I want is for you to hear her out.
“I called the book Hear Me Out because it’s the title of the song I wrote on the second Girls Aloud album and I’ve always really loved it.
“The lyrics have always meant a lot to me. It’s been lovely revisiting our songs, looking back over photos and writing down memories from my last 39 years.
“I really hope you might enjoy reading about them too… It’s coming out on March 18 and I can’t wait… argh!!!
“Sending you all lots of love, S x.”
Sarah went public with her cancer battle last year, revealing she’s been undergoing treatment since early 2020.
She also revealed the cancer has spread throughout her body, but she’s determined to remain positive and continue fighting.
Sharing a picture of herself in hospital, she wrote: “Hi everyone, I hope you are all keeping safe and well during these uncertain times.
“I’ve not posted on here for so long, thank you to everyone who has reached out to check in on me, it really does mean a lot.
“I feel now is the right time to share what’s been going on.
“There’s no easy way to say this and actually it doesn’t even feel real writing this, but here goes.
“Earlier this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and a couple of weeks ago I received the devastating news that the cancer has advanced to other parts of my body.
“I’m currently undergoing weekly chemotherapy sessions and I am fighting as hard as I possibly can.
“I understand this might be shocking to read on social media and that really isn’t my intention.
“But last week it was mentioned online that I had been seen in hospital, so I feel now is the time to let people know what’s going on and this is the best way I can think of to do so.
“My amazing mum, family and close friends are helping me through this, and I want to say a thank you to the wonderful NHS doctors and nurses who have been and continue to be heroes.
“I am doing my very best to keep positive and will keep you updated here with how I’m getting on.
“In the meantime I hope you’ll all understand and respect my request for privacy during this difficult time. Sending you all so much love….xx”
