Strictlys Anton angers viewers after mispronouncing Otis name – digitalspy.com

Strictly Come Dancing saw professional dancer Anton du Beke step into a judging role last week to take over from Motsi Mabuse who is self-isolating, and he was a hit with viewers who called for the role to be permanent.

However, in tonight’s (November 21) show, while judging her routine with Bill Bailey Anton seemed to forget how to pronounce Oti Mabuse’s name, calling her “Ottie”, which was very strange.

Did he ever know how to say her name or was it just a mistake? Either way, the pair have worked on Strictly together for over five years now, so it shouldn’t be difficult to remember, right?

Viewers were quite unimpressed with Anton, suggesting he really should have learned his colleague’s name by now.

One viewer angrily tweeted: “ANTON JUST CALLED OTI ‘OTTI’I am NOT having that!!!He has worked with her how many years? And he can’t even say her name?”

Another wrote: “Anton just mispronounced Oti’s name on #Strictly and it’s really annoyed me. How long have they been co-workers for and he doesn’t even pronounce her name correctly. The disrespect.”

Plenty more criticised Anton over his pronunciation of Oti’s name:

Meanwhile, earlier this week Oti gave This Morning viewers an update on how her sister Motsi is getting on while she’s in self-isolation, confirming: “She’s at home, she’s safe, she’s isolating. She’s healthy and she wishes everyone well.

“She wishes she was at the show and she loves seeing Anton there – I think Anton is doing an amazing, amazing job. And yeah she’s safe at home.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Sunday (November 22) on BBC One. Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, hosted by Zoe Ball and Rylan Clark-Neal, airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
