Appearing on Channel 4 ‘s Steph’s Packed Lunch, the dancer discussed his reasons for resorting to surgery in a quest for a fuller head of hair.
Speaking to Steph McGoven, Anton said: “I started to lose my hair a few years ago… Every time I looked in the mirror it’s all I could see.
“It is a painful procedure… It doesn’t hurt as much as looking into the mirror and seeing your hairline disappearing.”
The Strictly star was upfront and honest when asked to discuss the impact hair loss had on his self-esteem.
When asked by Steph whether it knocked his confidence, he said: “It does in certain aspects, not as a performer… In normal life. You’re either ok with it or you’re not ok with it so if you know you’re not ok with it then, for me, it was a case of do something about it.
“I had a period of time when I tried to do all my photos in profile… It’s sort of always on your mind. It starts to consume you.”
The 54-year-old entertainer went on to reveal that his transplant came about after meeting up with a celebrity pal.
“I was playing golf with Jimmy Nesbitt who’s famously had hair transplants and I went to his guy… It immediately transformed my life… All of that stuff that was going on went away,” he shared with the show.
The BBC star first had the procedure in 2018 and has been upfront about having the work done ever since.
Anton explained his honesty to Steph: “I owned it, I would talk about it… I had no interest in pretending. I wanted to go ‘look, I’ve had a bit of crop rotation, I’ve ripped a bit from the back and shoved it on the front.’”
The dancer is a regular contributor on Steph’s Packed Lunch and has also used his time on air to criticise Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following the birth of their second child, calling their baby name ‘nauseating’.
Speaking about the news of Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrival, Anton said: “Well you know, the right thing to say is that it’s lovely and that it’s fabulous and that I’m delighted and well done.”
“But I find it nauseating and irritating that they have done that.”
The TV personality ended his brutal rant with: “The thing is I don’t know them but I just want to say ‘Oh grow up’.”
Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4.
