This Is England actor Andrew Shim has been locked up in a Spanish prison on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The 37-year-old was arrested in Marbella – the millionaire’s playground rife with crime.
He is being held on remand at Alhaurin de la Torre prison near Malaga, which he entered on October 24 last year.
The Nottingham star was arrested by National Police three days earlier for drug trafficking.
A source said: “If he has done what he’s accused of – what is he up to? He had everything and he’ll have just thrown it all away.”
Shim is best-known for his roles in cult Shane Meadows films A Room for Romeo Brass, This Is England and Dead Man’s Shoes.
A spokesman for Spain’s National Police in Malaga said: “We can confirm a 37-year-old man was arrested on October 21 last year
for drugs trafficking.”
Spanish Prison Service sources confirmed the same man was still being held on remand in jail.
He was sent to prison on the orders of an investigating judge two days after his arrest.
Last night, it was not clear last night if he had been formally charged.
Formal charges are normally only laid in Spain shortly before trial.
Once an investigating judge decides there is enough evidence to warrant a trial, prosecutors are invited to submit an indictment.
But these probes can take months, or even years, to be completed.
Shim, at just 15, was the lead role in A Room for Romeo Brass and was lauded for his performance.
He then famously played Milky in This Is England and the subsequent TV series.
Shim, who is an MMA fighter, also appeared in 2015 Brit crime movie Anti-Social.
During the pandemic he made a series of “Corona diaries” where he chatted with famous pals.
In one video, Shim said his business venture, in which he travels across Europe, had been hit by the virus crisis.
He is registered as a director of vehicle company Trackside Hire.
US-born Shim was previously pictured at a wedding with many of his This Is England acting pals.
In a podcast interview in 2015, he admitted many of the film’s stars were “all on a crooked path” until Meadows cast them for their roles.
In one of the most famous and sickening scenes in the 2006 This is England film, Shim’s character Milky was badly beaten up.
