Kicking off the episode at 10am, Davina was introduced as Phil’s co-host for the day.

This is Holly’s second shock day off this week, with Alison Hammond stepping in yesterday.

And viewers are now more concerned than ever, and took to Twitter to share their reaction.

“They are usually very open and transparent !!!”

Yesterday, Alison simply said of Holly’s absence: “I’m standing in for Holly today as she enjoys a well-deserved day off.”

But fans weren’t buying it, flocking to Twitter to share their worried reaction to the news – even pointing out that Holly had said the day before she’d be back on screens the next day.

This Morning’s Holly Willoughby replaced with Alison Hammond as she takes day off

Alison stepping in for Holly came just days after it was revealed that she and Dermot O’Leary will be replacing Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford as the regular Friday hosts of the daytime show.

Eamonn and Ruth have been regulars on the programme for 14 years, and are said to be “furious and upset” at the decision – with it later appearing that they were completely blindsided by it.

Yesterday, fans were left cringing when they spotted the “awkward” moment that Alison had to speak to Ruth live on air during This Morning’s usual link to Loose Women.

Ruth opened the link addressing Phil saying: “Hi Phillip” but didn’t mention Alison – who stood alongside her co-star silently waving.
