The first trailer for the new series of Top Gear was released by the BBC on Tuesday.

In an explosive teaser clip, presenters Freddie Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness, and Chris Harris returned for a jam-packed fourth outing that sees them take on challenges like driving through the Lake District in their Dads’ cars and testing out iconic Bond cars.

But it was daredevil Freddie that was sure to draw the attention of viewers, as the former professional cricketer, 43, skated down the runway in titanium shoes while holding onto the back of an Ariel Nomad driven by The Stig.

Freddie, who often tries out the most dangerous of stunts on the show, was seen sending sparks flying behind him as he was pulled along the tarmac.

In shock over the turn of events, Freddie -who was decked in a helmet and protective suit- said in disbelief: ‘I’m just going down the runway on my feet!’

The trailer also showed the trio’s great affinity for each other, as they were able to hug each other after forming a support bubble together.

In a funny moment from the trailer, Freddie, Paddy and Chris stood around their cars while in form-fitting wet suits and gear up for a swim as they tested out Mid-life Crisis Cars.

As he stretched in the Lycra ensemble, Paddy joked: ‘Well at least we’ve still got our dignity’ before jumping into a lake.

The BBC have pulled out all the stops for the trio’s fourth series together, as they teamed up with the 007 franchise to pay homage to some of the best loved – and lesser known – cars driven by James Bond.

Freddie, Paddy and Chris test out the classic Aston Martin DB5 that was first seen in Goldfinger, as well as the Renault 11 Parisienne taxi that Roger Moore piloted in A View To A Kill in 1985.
