Shelby Tribble has shared an update on her health, a day after she was re-admitted to hospital with pre-eclampsia following the birth of her baby boy.

The former TOWIE star, 27, said that she was ‘not having an easy ride’ and is ‘taking so many different medications and vitamins’ as she took to Instagram on Thursday.

On Tuesday Shelby’s fiancé Sam Mucklow, 28, revealed they had welcomed their first son, called Abel Ashley, saying they were both ‘well and healthy.’

Keeping her fans updated on her condition, Shelby penned a lengthy statement thanking them for their support and well wishes.

She wrote: ‘To every single person that has messaged me and are continuing to: family, friends and all you lovely people thank you so much I am soooo overwhelmed by all the love, support and kindness.

‘It’s really made me feel so special. It’s so difficult for me to respond to everyone individually it would take me too long to reply to you all but just know I’ve read and I am grateful for every single message sent to me.

‘I’m not having an easy ride and still have to be monitored daily and I’m taking so many different medications and vitamins I could probably open my own pharmacy at this rate, I’m ratting as i walk!’

Sounding upbeat, Shelby continued: ‘I’ve got all the best family and professionals around me to look after me and get me back to full health.

‘Baby boy is doing really well, we will reveal him to you soon (he doesn’t even realise how in demand is is haha… can’t wait to tell him when he is older)

‘Me and Sam can’t thank you all enough for being so kind towards us and showing so much love to our little family unit. I hope everyone who has contacted me will get to read this. Love to you all from the three of us.’

It comes after Shelby revealed that she was back in a hospital bed due to her high blood pressure, but reassured fans her baby boy was ‘fine’, on Wednesday.

Staying positive: Shelby thanked her fans for their well wishes in the post and joked that she is 'rattling' when she walks after being given 'so many different medications and vitamins'

Sharing a black and white snap from her hospital bed, Shelby wrote: ‘Re-admitted into hospital after only just leaving and getting comfortable at home with daddy.

‘F you pre-eclampsia (baby is fine just mummy’s blood pressure is not).’

Sam also shared a snap from the foot of Shelby’s hospital bed, writing: ‘Poor girl going through the wars @shelbytribble.’

Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy complication that causes high blood pressure, which can be deadly for both a woman and her unborn baby if untreated, and can begin from around 20 weeks into the pregnancy.

The best solution is usually an early birth via C-section, which isn’t always an ideal option if the baby is premature.

Symptoms include headaches, blurred vision, abdominal pain, vomiting and shortness of breath.

It usually begins in the placenta, when its blood vessels narrow and do not react to hormones properly, reducing the amount of blood that flows through the body.

Hours earlier Shelby shared a snap of her newborn in Sam’s arms after returning home from hospital, writing: ‘He’s finally home having cuddles with his daddy’.

WHAT IS PRE-ECLAMPSIA?

Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy complication that causes high blood pressure, which can be deadly for both a woman and her unborn baby if untreated.

It usually begins after 20 weeks of pregnancy in women whose blood pressure is typically normal.

The most effective treatment is an early delivery; usually via C-section.

However, this may not be best for the baby if it is early on in the pregnancy.

Pre-eclampsia affects about 25,000 women in England and Wales each year, and four per cent of pregnancies in the US.

It can have no symptoms if it develops gradually rather than coming on suddenly.

A blood pressure reading above 140/90 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) on two occasions is usually the first sign.

Other symptoms may include:

  • Severe headaches
  • Blurred vision, temporary loss of sight or light sensitivity
  • Upper abdominal pain, particularly under the ribs on the right side
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Reduced urination
  • Shortness of breath due to a build up of fluid in the lungs

Sudden weight gain, and swelling in the face and hands, are also symptoms, however, these can occur during normal pregnancies.

Pre-eclampsia is thought to begin in the placenta when its blood vessels narrow and do not react to hormones properly.

This reduces the amount of blood that flows through them.

Its underlying cause may be genetic, due to a problem with a woman’s immune system or existing blood vessel damage.

A woman is more at risk if she, or a member of her family, suffered from pre-eclampsia before.

The risk is also highest during the first pregnancy, and if a woman is over 40; obese; black; having a multiple birth, like twins; or conceived via IVF.

Existing medical conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, migraines and kidney disease also raise the risk.

If untreated, pre-eclampsia can restrict a baby’s growth or cause it to be delivered early.

The placenta can also separate from the uterus wall, which can lead to severe bleeding.

A woman may also suffer seizures, organ damage and even heart disease as a result of untreated pre-eclampsia.

Although treatment is usually inducing labour, if it is too early to deliver the baby, medications may be prescribed to lower a woman’s blood pressure.

There is no clear advice on how to prevent pre-eclampsia, however, research suggests taking a low-dose of aspirin and calcium supplements may help.

Pregnant women should talk to their doctor before taking any drugs or supplements.

Although they have shared a glimpse of their newborn, the couple are yet to reveal their baby’s name.

At the weekend, Sam revealed Shelby had spent the past three days in hospital awaiting the arrival of their boy.

Sam shared a video to his Instagram stories on Sunday morning, showing the overdue mother-to-be lying in her hospital bed.

The TV personality looked exhausted as she closed her eyes for a quick rest after ‘almost three days in hospital’ waiting to give birth to their son.

She tried to keep comfortable by lying back on a massive white pillow decorated with stars as hoards of refreshments could be seen beside her.

Writing alongside the video, Sam said that the couple were hoping to welcome their ‘little man’ on Sunday – exactly a week after Shelby’s due date.

He penned: ‘So proud of this girl almost three days in hospital fingers crossed. Little man should arrive today’ (sic)

Another Instagram clip saw Shelby lying on her side in her hospital bed as a nurse asked her if she was ‘all nice and snuggly there’, to which the expectant mother responded ‘yeah’.

The former TOWIE star also uploaded a slew of snaps on his grid as he reflected on how ‘proud’ he was of his girlfriend.

Shelby previously took to Instagram on Tuesday asking her fans to ‘place their bets’ on when her son would make an appearance as she impatiently waited to go into labour.

The couple announced her pregnancy in May and posted a loved-up picture holding a baby scan photo while she showcased her blossoming bump.

Shelby penned: ‘Something fantastic is making us glad, we’re changing our names to Mum and Dad ❤️.’

Shelby later added: ‘THANK YOU [red heart]… I just wanted to thank every single person who has congratulated myself and Sam whether it’s in the comments, direct messages and texts. ‘

Expressing her excitement, she said: ‘I am so excited to be a mummy and even better that I can do it with the love of my life beside me.’

Shelby and Sam have had a turbulent relationship, which was well documented on TOWIE.

The couple began sleeping with each other on a ‘friends with benefits’ basis but things soon turned sour when Sam decided to pursue a romance with TOWIE newbie Demi Sims while on a group trip to Thailand last year.

During a heated row, Sam called Shelby a ‘s**g’ but months later, the couple decided to give things another go.

However, they were met with opposition when Shelby’s best friend Clelia Theodorou told her she had felt deserted because Shelby was spending all her time with Sam.

The former BFF’s had several bitter rows, with Clelia accusing her of not being there for her when she was at her lowest point after splitting from her boyfriend (Sam’s best friend).

It was then Shelby and Sam decided to step back from TOWIE in order to focus on their romance.

Prior to this, the reality star had been dating TOWIE’s Tom McDonnell and Pete Wicks.
